Introduction

We currently live in a fascinating time for neuropathologists. Rapid developments in the fields of basic neuroscience are continuously unravelling new potential molecular mechanisms of tissue injury in the central nervous system, which may be relevant for understanding the pathogenesis of brain disorders and may become important for diagnosis and treatment of neurological and psychiatric diseases.

Neuropathologists play a key role in this process. It is their task to evaluate their relevance for disease and to translate these new results into clinical practice related to diagnostics and therapy. We can thus expect a wealth of new and interesting data, being presented at ICN 2010.

But even when you have the very best scientific program available, you still want to meet old and make new friends, and experience something new in social and touristic terms. We can assure you that the 17th ICN is located in one of the most attractive sites to visit on earth, with a wealth of delights in terms of sightseeing, nature, culture, music and cuisine.

Believe us that we will do our best to make Salzburg 2010 an unforgettable experience for everybody attending.
